Jose Martinez was a local drug dealer in Lytton, CA. He likely purchased drugs from Jason Taselli, which he sold to Victor Simms to be distributed at Jefferson High School. He introduced Simms to another dealer, Paul Donald Colby, who took over supplying Simms. Some time later, Martinez was seen getting into a light-blue Cadillac, and was never seen again. His wife filed a mission person report over his disappearance. He was likely murdered by Jason Taselli.

Despite playing a significant role in the story, Jose Martinez is never actually seen, having disappeared before the start of the original game.

Events[]

Jose Martinez was a local drug dealer in Lytton, with multiple previous arrests involving the sale of narcotics.

Before or around the time of the arrival of Jason Taselli and Jessie Bains in Lytton, Martinez began selling drugs - particularly cocaine - to Jefferson High School student Victor Simms. At one point, Martinez introduced Simms to Donald Colby, another drug dealer, who took over as Simms' supplier.

Like several other local drug dealers in Lytton, Martinez himself was likely supplied by Jason Taselli, at least once Taselli arrived in the city and began to increase his influence in the local illicit drug market. A notebook found with Taselli during his arrest hinted that he had met with Martinez and another local drug dealer, Lonny West, possibly to recruit them into the organization. This is the only direct indication to a business relationship between Martinez and Taselli.

A short time before Taselli's arrest, he acquired a Cadillac de Ville stolen from Lytton resident Malcolm Washington. Shortly afterwards, Martinez was seen getting into a light-blue Cadillac, which was the last time anyone has seen him. Martinez' wife filed a missing person report for Jose, which included this testimony.

Taselli later murdered dealer Lonny West in a drive-by shooting, using a light-blue Cadillac. He was then stopped and arrested in the same vehicle. As such, it is assumed that Martinez had been seen getting into that same Cadillac on the day of his disappearance. Martinez' missing person report did not indicate whether he was getting into the vehicle as its driver (indicating that he may have been the one who stole it) or as a passenger (indicating that Taselli was driving the car at the time). In either case, Martinez may or may not have been in the car during the murder of Lonny West, and may or may not have been the murderer himself. Lytton Police Department records, however, assume that Taselli was the murderer. With Martinez still missing and Taselli himself murdered only a short time afterwards, the mystery may never be solved.

Martinez' ultimate fate is officially unknown; however Taselli's notebook refers to a meeting with "J.M.", followed by a line reading "terminate J.M." with a cross mark next to it. This appears to indicate that Taselli had murdered Martinez at some point prior to his arrest. This is further backed up by similar lines in the notebook referring to Lonny West, whom Taselli did indeed murder in broad daylight.
